2015 Irish Loop Chamber of Commerce AGM
April 22, 2015. Cape Broyle. President Jeff Marshall began his speech at the 2015 Irish Loop Chamber of Commerce (ILCC) AGM talking about Risk and Change. He suggested that calculated risk is often rewarded and that change is constant. He acknowledged and thanked ACOA and BTCRD for their willingness to support events and projects like LoopEX, Seagull Awards and cialis-coupon LoopApp.
“LoopApp can be the type of tool to help bridge some of the distance between communities on the Irish Loop. The mobile application is innovative and demonstrates the kind of creative thinking we are capable of. LoopApp has far-reaching implications beyond a GIS-based business directory and tourism map — although it’s all that and will be more. But it has the potential to incorporate all sorts of databases to help businesses decide where to build — or help government better manage regional assets, etc., It’s powerful.” said Marshall.
“We have the foundation built and now we hope to take it to the next level where it becomes a revenue generator for the Chamber. So, it becomes a win-win. Local companies get exposure and new business — and the Chamber can generate enough revenue to become self-sustaining by having at least part time administrative support to better utilize time and resources of volunteers.”
“It’s a problem shared with NGOs throughout the region,” said Harold Mullowney, “We are experiencing the same thing at Joint Council and I’m hearing it from other organizations as well.”
“We believe we can achieve our objective and work with other groups to embrace the change all around us,” Marshall continues, “We have an aging population and a tired group of volunteers who have done their time. We need to think differently and cooperate as a single “community”. Maximizing resources. Minimizing costs. And improving efficiencies: like shared administration — for a start.”
We have had a fantastic year and achieved a number of ‘firsts’ on the Irish Loop. And with a strong board, a fresh, creative and cooperative approach, and continued support from our members and funding partners, together we will affect a positive outcome — and Keep Business in the Loop.” #KBITL
